Don’t risk an oral infection going untreated
We know that the healthier your mouth, the healthier your body.
There is an overwhelming amount of research showing the link between oral health and systemic health.
Our hygiene team is your first line of defense when it comes to prevention of oral disease. Gum disease and dental caries (cavity) screenings should be part of your regular health routine. Not only do we take our job as prevention specialists seriously, we love helping patients discover how good it can feel to have a great cleaning.
Infections of the mouth can cause expensive damage to the teeth and soft tissues; preventive appointments and home care can reduce your risk. Also, infections like gum disease and tooth decay can contribute to or magnify systemic medical issues like diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
What is a hygiene appointment like?
For some, it has been a few years since they have had a dental checkup. Don’t worry! You are in good hands with the team at Family and Laser Dentistry.
You will receive the most comprehensive and gentle wellness exam you have likely had at the dentist.
The hygiene team will walk you through each step of your evaluation to make sure you are informed and comfortable. You will be asked to share any concerns or changes you may have noticed, such as tooth discoloration, bad breath, sensitivity to hot and cold, or bleeding during brushing or flossing. The team will then go over the things that are relevant to you, including:
Review of health history (medication use, changes in systemic health, etc.)
Home care routine review and education (brushing and flossing)
Cavity detection
Address any other concerns you or the doctor may have
For the kids
Dental caries (decay, cavities) is the number one chronic disease in children today. It is 5 times more common than asthma. More than 51 million school hours are lost each year due to dental related illness. Keeping your child’s mouth healthy is extremely important.
Regular appointments for your kids will keep them healthy and set them up for a lifetime of good oral health. We can’t wait to help your children start off their dental journey on the right foot!
